Thinking of buying an Oppo or a Vivo phone? You might want to think again after reading this article.

Oppo and Vivo have a combined market share of 12% all over the world, which sums up at an astonishing 200 Million devices made every year.

If one wants to learn marketing, they should learn from Oppo and Vivo. Despite having mediocre processors and features, they seem to be a favourite of everyone. Call it marketing, brand promotions, celebrity endorsements or anything else, they have created a significant aura for themselves.

However, despite advertising as a camera centric phone with AI features and superior specs, it may be noted that Oppo and Vivo phones, despite their price tag seem to have low-performing processors.

Yes, you read that right. When compared to the other brands such as Oneplus, Realme or Samsung under a specific price range, it has been observed that both Oppo and Vivo phones have the lowest performing processors compared to the competition.

Lets take an example. Vivo X fold 3 retails at around $1400 in the US. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Fair enough? No!

The SD 8 Gen 2 processor dates back to 2022! Yes, you read that right! For a phone releasing in 2024, Vivo has opted for the processor made in 2022 instead of the 2024 made 8 Gen 3 or the upcoming 8 Gen 4.

Many phone makers such as the Vivo, Oppo and others bank on the lack of awareness of the general masses who tend to buy these phones. Roughly around 10% of the phone buyers are completely aware of the specs of the phone they are buying and 90% do not realise they are being sold a low-performing device.

Since people are slowly getting aware of the specs, it is high time that these companies mend their ways and actually sell worthy products instead of relying on extensive advertising and celebrity endorsements. Otherwise they are doomed to fail in the future.
